February 5th: Midas Touch: Gold Bezel Ring with Alex Boyd

This class is at the core of Alex’s Gold on a Budget philosophy. Using minimal amounts of 22k gold we’ll create a ring with a bezel set faceted stone offset from a blackened sterling silver band. All sorts of secret tips and tricks for combining gold and silver will be disclosed and we won’t even make you sign an NDA.

Potter USA is equipped with the essentials like benches, soldering equipment, hammers, bench pins, etc. Bringing your own, favorite hand tools for specific classes is encouraged but not required. See project specific tool list below: if you have the items on the list, it’s handy to have your own but the instructors will have multiples for you to borrow as well.

Materials Kit: $160-300 (depends on stones picked)

  • Faceted gemstone

  • Sterling silver 6 gauge sheet 10mm x 15mm

  • Sterling silver 12 gauge strip 2.8mm x 8cm

  • 22k 24 gauge .8mm long enough to bezel stone

  • Sterling silver rectangle stock

  • Hard silver solder
